overall the movie was a letdown because the books are so much better and detailed. They missed out the circus of talents and trial by tale completely and I feel like they made everything much to childlike and cliche. The books are far far better and engaging and soman chainani's work has literally been pictured as a glittery abomination with some pretty appalling acting at times. The soundtrack was horrible and lazy- I particularly remember the use of 'you should see me in a crown'- this just shows how poorly they set the scene and visualised the movie. if you haven't read the books and watch the movie first it's really off putting and gives you a cringe and cliche idea of the storyline. They reallllly blew this one and the movie does not bring justice to a series that's enthralling and brilliant. They missed out key ideas of the plot and kind of just went with what they felt like. also they made everyone's fingerglows gold NO THEYRE MEANT TO ALL BE DIFFERNT ITS IMPORTANT. WHO IS GREGOR? HES NON EXISTENT IN THE MOVIES. tedros was embarrassing ngl i found myself facepalming when he randomly started fighting and doing flips at the beginning. the cast's acting was average and i still can't get over gregor who was wimpy and a completely non existent character. whoever casted everyone needs to read the book. anadil, dot, agatha, tedros and many more didn't fit book descriptions. the plot was missing everything important, script was embarrassing, poor costumes that didn't follow the book's descriptions... what else can even go wrong in a movie? The series had so much potential to be made into a good movie but they fluked it big time. please please please don't be put off by this monstrosity of a movie and read the books instead :(
