Don't listen to the complainers. This movie moves at a good pace and didn't feel long at all. It was easy to follow, i don't know what the critics are going on about. The performance is expected, very good. The sound design was amazing. It sounded like I was there on the set or that my theater has really good speakers now. For the story, the film feels like watching a western novel playing out visually. You've got brutal scenes to light hearted interactions that gives us some reprieve from the overall dreadfulness of the old west. A couple of scenes brought tears to my eyes. One, has to do with courage and honor as the castle wall crumbles. The other is a momento being handed out of one who'll remember that these people existed. A small comfort, knowing what awaits them at their destination. Is chapter 1 an instant classic? No. Yet its enthralling enough for me to go and see the other 3 chapters when they are released.
