KANTARA.....A movie review
--+----++++++++++++++++------
The storyline is predictable, but what stands out is the way it is presented and Rishab Shetty's acting all along.
Cinematography capturing the dense forest day in and day out is comendable.....the use of steady cams and the still cinematography while speed shooting is to be appreciated.
The back ground music is awesome. The song "Singara Siriye" stands out. Vijaya prakash and Ananya Bhat have delivered the rustic, romantic song rendered to the fine tune from Ajaneesh Loknath.
Editing is crisp. The story revolves around the belief / faith among the villagers with that of their surrounding nature and towards the God they worship ( Devaradhane and Bootha kola)
Although Rishabh playing the role of shiva will not see eye to eye with the forest officer, both their intent are same, but perspective different. The forest officer does not believe in the unscientific ways and rituals carried out by the villagers..he intent to save the forest..but Shiva crosses swords with the officer as he does not agree that forest is in danger from the villagers... strangely at a later stage they both get caught in the web of the politician greed for land and the fight begins....Fight between the faith VS land mafia emerges.... how will Shiva save the village,villagers and the forest is tightly depectited.
It is all Rishabh Shetty's performance which catches you through out the movie.He has done a great job..especially the climax and anti climax scene.His portray of a uneducated village lad wallowing away his time ..but fighting for justice is really catchy.Even his beetel leaves chewed teeth adds to his rustic charachter he potrays.
More than ever i was happy to watch this movie against the usual kannada run-out--of-the-mill ...movies dished out mindlessly week after week without an iota of sense or sensibility.
Kantara has raised the bar of quality movies in kannada industry.
Special thanks to Rishabh...for creating this for us...
