SPOILERS
I’m very torn on how I want to feel about this game. I think that parts of the story made absolutely no sense like the way Joel died, and the fact that I had to play 10 hours as the character who killed him. The part I’m most torn about however is the ending. On one hand it makes no sense that the whole game was based on Ellie getting revenge on Abbie and in the end doesn’t even kill her. But on the other hand it does make some sense because I believe that in that moment when she was about to kill Abbie, Ellie realized that it wouldn’t bring her at piece to kill Abbie. At that point Ellie had already taken more from Abbie then Abbie took from her. We didn’t even have to play as Abbie at all to understand that she lost a lot at the hands of Ellie. Ellie killed a lot of Abbies friends on her revenge trip and I think in the end she decided the damage was done and killing her would be pointless at that point. Honestly the only reason I’m not a huge fan is because I was forced to play as Abbie and because Joel died. Other then that I think the game was pretty good, but not at the level of part 1. I honestly don’t think the game deserves as much hate as it gets, but I do understand it. I would even consider replaying the game in the future as long as I can skip through all the Abbie parts. Yes, Joel’s death made no sense, but the other things about the game that may seem confusing I think should just be looked at with an open mind, especially the ending. I honestly didn’t feel bad for Abbie, but I didn’t want her to be killed because then Lev would wind up alone, and I would have felt bad for Lev. Overall I think the game is just very hard to grasp at times but looking at it with an open mind definitely boosted my opinion of it
