Considering how well-documented and well-loved the originals are, with thousands and thousands of fans having a deep understanding of the middle earth and all of its lore, its wrong that the writers feel they have the liberty to change things to fit the narrative they want to show. They have a budget that could end hunger in Africa, yet they refuse to hire writers that have respect for the original story. Sure, these writers might "love" the books themselves, but how they are missing the mark with important details and even just having decent character writing shows that they really have zero real understanding of why these books are so successful. There are a lot of people defending the show that haven't even read the books, or, if they have, only read them at face value and never truly deviled into the lore, that are saying its just a bunch of bigots that are displeased with the show, but thay simply isn't true. Everywhere you turn, you see true fans, people that have dedicated huge portions of their lives to understanding the world of middle earth- creating podcasts, vlogs and other media to discuss and engage with other fans- that are disappointed with how the writers of this show are treating it as another action hero film with infallible, flat characters. These books are universal, and Amazon cannot just take them and tear them apart to fit the story that they want without expecting repercussions. They are getting what they deserve and hopefully it stops them from seeing other loyal fan bases as a big bucket of money for them to tap into.
