Wildly ambitious project. Learned a great deal about the time period and the subject. A major drawback was the noise/music. Too loud, too jumbled a score that was a distraction and frustration as dialog was muffled under the noise. Even so, the skills of Cumberbatch are as always, astonishing. He had so much rapid dialogue much of which was difficult to absorb quickly.

Ho hum...an excellent story to build our interest in the subject of uncovering Anglo Saxon history. This would have been an excellent opportunity for time warp....who were these people, their culture and why bury this ship full of treasure. Woefully weak on what was found, how much was found. The last 1/4th of the movie was a different movie! Filler for time, for actors barely related to the main and fascinating premise of archeological digs. By the end of the movie we felt deflated and puzzled by such an aberrant concluding storyline. Twenty four hours later we could say....watch about 3/4th then stop. The important story line of this man, vital to the event, the passion will then stay with one.
