When I see a relatively paltry rating on a feel-good and well acted film such as this, with so many poignant moments, I have to wonder what knuckle-heads are doing the ratings. We need fewer sit-com junkies and more Turner Classics subscribers.

Harry Dean Stanton seems almost catatonic through much of the film. Too many scenes have him staring into space for way too long; too much droning, on and on. The main focus of the film is supposed to be Stanton, but how does the viewer connect? None of the characters are compelling. I suspect a cult following has kept the rating respectable. But I'm not afraid to learn; if someone out there has experienced redeeming value, I'm listening.
