Underwhelming and long... too long for what you get. There would seem to be plenty of drama to choose from: the slow-moving life of the theater director, his arms-length relationship with his driver, the play which the actors are rehearsing (Uncle Vanya), the interactions between the actors, the self-destructive behavior of one of the actors, etc. Yet I found none of these stories-within-a-story engaging and also was not drawn toward any of the characters except the driver. I don't mind slow-moving films that take time to develop the characters and unfold the story, but this one had very little to pull me into it and little or no dramatic tension. "Slice of life" movies can be engaging and uplifting even with their focus on simple everyday events, but this one left me yawning. I think it is hyped and over-rated. Many people will see this and wish they had done something else with their time.
