Seriously one of the worst shows I've ever seen. It's like the writer was trying their best to include every single trope known to mad. Sulky, brooding main character. A love interest that's obsessed with him. Everyone persecutes the main character for something he didn't do. The main character is the strongest hero in the land. Lazy, shoe-horned MMO elements that do nothing for the plot. A harem. Don't like romance stuff with young kids? One of the love interests is canonically, like, a baby. The other love interest, the main character raises from a small child. Don't like tastelessly using sexual assault allegations as a plot element, in a way thay ultimately hurts the argument of anyone who's come out about their experiences with sexual assault? Maybe this anime isn't for you. Don't get me wrong, I've seen and I've enjoyed a lot of anime, I just can't imagine liking this more than other shows in the same space. I think the biggest sin of this show is the writing. Horribly tasteless, so much chaffe, and just no imagination. I was so ready to have some cool shield combat, maybe some concept about what having a shield as your main weapon does for your combat ability. We get that for a split second before it's revealed that the shield is just the most powerful offensive weapon there is. Everyone in the show feels lazy, slow, and mostly worthless. The story is dedicated to losing its thread, meandering wherever it feels until it just unceremoniously ends. I'm pretty down on this show, and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone
