First of all, I thank the publisher for presenting the book in such a lovely, tactile format (oh the joys of actually purchasing a book), the paper and folded covers were beautiful and added to the feel of the historic subject matter. It’s a story I will treasure for the simple but powerful story of an old and young person who partake of an adventurous and perilous journey to get her back to her Relatives, but of course as a someone who was raised by an Indian tribe, how was that going to work out well... I loved the educated and moral compass that Captain Kidd displayed at every turn and the eventual bonds of love and trust that he and Johanna formed. That and the Texas landscape that was depicted made for a whopping good take.
