There are a lot of Christians saying the movie was anti Christian, idk I didn't really get that. They made some jokes about Jesus. That's definitely not a main focus of the film.
Also, there's a lot of people saying it's woke. It's not woke at all. The main family is black. So what? Santa is black. So what? If you call everything woke then you're just crying wolf. It makes some racial jokes, which should be okay, right? I'm just really missing the wokeness in this film.
Anyway, it's a 1 star for me because it meanders so much around its main plot line you can't hardly follow it. It has too many predictable, junky family drama and lame tropes that detract majorly from the main plot. Like the daughter doesn't want to go to USC and the parents want her to. Cool, sprinkle it in a bit, but don't focus on it for 10 minutes. Also, extras are completely oblivious to these insane things going on around them. Nothing that happens in this film even touches normal, and literally no one seems to care about it. This movie made me feel like I was taking crazy pills.
However, the little toy dudes had some funny lines and the main villain had some humor, but that wasn't close to saving the film. I'm not hanging this one as a woke, racist, anti Christian film at all unless a couple jokes make it those things. I'm hanging it for being disjointed and incohesive from start to finish. That scrooge movie that came out with Will Ferrell, Ryan Reynolds, Tracy Morgan, and Octavia Spencer last year was pretty good, so they CAN make good Christmas movies still, this just ain't it.
