I went into the movie with high hopes as all my friends were ecstatic about it and were telling me that it was the best movie they’ve watched this year. I personally loved the first movie so hearing the second one was even better was exciting. However, I was sorely disappointed coming out of the theatre having wasted two hours for a headache. The animation was absolutely incredible, I’ve never seen anything like it. I loved it with every bone in my body, even though at times it hurt my head to look at with all the effects and glitching. However, even the animation couldn’t save the bad pacing and predictable plot. It felt as if they were trying to juggle the theme of family while also trying to hurriedly explain the multiverse. I understood the concept, but even my brother agreed they could’ve done a better job in which it didn’t feel like they were info-dumping. The characters were okay, I loved Miles and Gwen but I felt they introduced so many characters that didn’t need to be introduced. They felt unimportant to the story and kind of like filler. Though I must say, as an Indian, I absolutely loved the Indian Spider-Man and “Mumbhattan”, hilarious. Overall, the pacing was bad, the music was worse than the last movie, and the plot was so mediocre I could barely pay attention. Great animation though! I would give it three stars if I didn’t have such high hopes.
