Unpopular opinion I’m sure, but this book was a waste of time and emotional energy. The end was disheartening and disturbing. It seems a big leap to have someone like Josie kill her boyfriend in that scenario. It felt like it was written more for the end twist instead of a realistic outcome. She’s a good writer, but there were a lot of unnecessary side stories, dark themes, and a very discouraging end. There are so many ways that this could have been redeemed and instead it went the soap opera route to create a more thrilling and unexpected ending. 🤦🏼♀️
Fair warning too that Peter’s end glorifies suicide. This could be triggering to anyone struggling with that. To be fair, she addresses the desire for suicide with Josie and I thought at that point she handled it well, but for Peter, it was again forcing an ending that isn’t realistic.
