Overall, we loved the movie. We appreciated the window into another life and culture. Wished there was a little more wrapping up of loose ends at the end of the film. The hinting at a queer identity was left unanswered but was important enough to touch on in the film. Would have been nice to see what happened. It was mentioned at the end of the film that it was the last time he saw his uncle. Again, it left another hole that could have easily been explained in a sentence. Aunty Lucy was a prominent figure in the boys life but what became of her? Did she go to Phoenix or where? What became of Dawn? It seemed that though we were allowed to invest in these characters, not to share the rest of their stories is a missed opportunity.

The editing and added soundtracks leave me exhausted. We, the audience, have longer attention spans than the director and producers give us credit for. We watch the show to see the fashion but it all flashes by so quickly it becomes pointless to try and keep up. C’mon! Let us see the clothes for longer than a few seconds!
