Mirrors my experience of life. Might not be palatable to or understood by people who haven’t experienced the pain she is working through. It addresses the real abandonment felt by a child when their mother leaves, it shows the emotional walls of protection she builds around herself as an adult. Parents who put themselves first need to face this reality of the damage it does to their children. This story shows a man who stands by his child and teaches her how to persevere, how not to give up. Survival is the little things. One foot in front of the other physically and mentally. If you have dug yourself out of suicidal depression or dragged yourself physically from an event that would have killed you, this you know. Survival depends on laser beam focus of all your energy on one step at a time, overcoming fear and panic relies on the same mechanism in our minds.
