The best show on Netflix. You become so invested in all the characters, you laugh, you cry, you nod with understanding. It's subtle and yet it pulls you in so that you're living alongside them all. And what great sports the real-life actors are! They're clearly all having a great time. I truly love this show and am thankful it was made - I couldn't say that of most things I watch. Plus, great for your French!

An epic film which really brings Frank Herbert's vision to life. Can't fault it. I was on Dune with them all. And oh, those worms!

Gorgeous sets and costumes, some awesomely evil aristocratic baddies, plenty of big name actors plus Spraggs from Downton Abbey, lots of scifi chase and fight scenes, original ideas.. what's not to like? The plot isn't laid out especially clearly but the film takes you on a journey of discovery. No idea why it flopped. I liked it and have watched it twice - I can see it becoming a cult classic.

If you like downbeat cinema, despise frivolity, and equate low-key depression with the true meaning of life, then you'll love this. Otherwise, give it a miss. All on one level all the way through.

Looks beautiful, but failed to engage me. My husband liked it a bit more, so we've watched it all. I found it a bit turgid, and in places it seemed to be demanding the reverence given to the LOTR films without making any effort to earn it. Somehow, the soul just wasn't there. I did like the dwarves though!

I was bored. Not interested by any of the characters, not engaged by the cameo beasts, left cold by unimaginative, mumbled dialogue and irritated by a completely confusing and unexplained plot. This is a poor, dull film with none of the fun and structure of the Harry Potter stories. I am left with the feeling that this whole franchise is phoned in. Selling a film script? An obvious money grab. Making a five-film series? Sadly, having watched this, quite possibly also a money grab. One thing's for sure - this film is certainly not aimed at entertaining its audience. The thought of there being three more to come is depressing.

Once you get over the hump and suspend your disbelief, this show is a LOT of silly fun. By the end I was reminded of Buffy - some very clever plotting.
