A brilliant little RPG mixed with some classic horror!
Writing reviews for games is new for me. I really don’t publicly post my thoughts for the games I play. I really only post those which deserve it...
Vampyr is one of these games...
I’ve been keeping an eye out for this game to hit the sales, after reading negative to mixed reviews. 2 days ago, it hit the digital sales for £15. I didn’t hesitate to buy this, despite not having played this before. I was expecting to be disappointed with it.
How wrong I was!
It’s an awesome game. It captures the atmosphere of the classic horror that I love. It’s a great throwback to the Hammer horror movies and gives off a very gothic, dark vibe.
It offers a bit of everything to the player. It has the setting of “Assassins Creed : Syndicate”, the horror/virus feel from @the last of us”, the vampire aspect/abilities from “Skyrim’s” Dawnguard DLC and the dialogue choices from “Mass Effect”.
Everything you do has a consequence, which affects the world you play in. There’s “investigation” quests to participate in, a rich story with unique characters, each with their own backstory and secrets to discover. The combat is difficult to master but eventually gets easier to understand (there is a stamina-themed mechanic, like “Bloodbourne). You can also customise your weapons (only the stats/effects) and there’s a ton of different weapons to choice from
The only gripes I have with “Vampyr” is that there is not enough different costumes to use, and that the loading times can be quite long (up to a minute)
All in all, I would definitely recommend this game. I’m happy with it, especially for £15!
9/10!
