Definitely one of the more impressive actor-turned-director debuts by Ms. Kendrick. She knows what she’s doing. This film is taut, tense, chilling even more so since it’s mostly true. Great performances all around.

Everything about this movie was “mid”. Except for the voiceover which was atrocious and somewhat unintentionally funny. It veered into SNL territory at times.
Good cast wasted in a sub par script.

Slick, mindless entertainment. It’s “The White Lotus” meets “Knives Out”, but not quite as good as either of those.

Whew, really bad. I loved all the other films in this series but this one is a mess. Anya Taylor Joy doesn’t even appear until over an hour into the movie! By then it’s too late. She’s the only good thing. CGI was so cheesy it looked like a video game most of the time. Big disappointment.

Way too gory. Would have been a much better and more effective film if they had followed the “less is more” aesthetic. I give it three stars only because of Ms. Sweeney: she’s a truly good and truly fearless actor. I see Oscar glory in her future.

Very impressionistic in style; no real plot or storyline but Kingsley Ben-Adir is perfect in the role, completely disappearing into Marley. Lashana Lynch was great and the concert scenes were brilliantly done.

Bold filmmaking. I was expecting a standard sports movie and it’s much more. Star turns by the three lead actors. Incredible music by Reznor/Ross. More impressionistic in style and very non-linear. My only complaint is I thought the time jumps were excessive and confusing at times, but it does all come together at the wild ending!

The problem with the “Meta” tone of so many movies today is it borders on self-parody. By doing so much with a wink to the camera it lowers the stakes, lowers the bar on everything. Wastes the chemistry between Chris Evans and Ana de Armas in a paper thin story that we’ve seen done a million times better before.

Fun, clever, sexy. Both Glen Powell and Adria Arjona get the star-making roles they’ve long deserved. The ending seemed abrupt but most everything else in this film worked. Slick, entertaining diversion. Good option for a Saturday night flick.

4.5 stars. It’s good and I’m sure will get better on repeat but she and Finneas are creeping toward their “adult contempo” phase. Nothing wrong with maturing but I hope they don’t smooth out too many of the weird and rough edges that made them so interesting.
Keep it weird!
