One of the more underrated collaborations between John Wayne and John Ford and imo one the most thought provoking. This was the first movie that I can personally recall that portrayed War for what it really is, and what it really is is nothing but horror and nightmare for both sides. One scene that really got to me occurs after a an ambush in a small town and it shows characters like Wayne(high ranking officer) and William Holden (army doctor) fighting to save the lives of the young men on both sides. It's expertly crafted and makes you appreciate the work done here by the actors, director, cinematographer and everyone else involved. Quite melancholy for a Western but entertaining all the way through. Definitely recommend anyone who is a fan of all genres to give this one a watch.
