I love these characters. Initially, the actors playing them is what made me want to watch. (Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolf, Jillian Bell, Ike Barinholtz, Kumail Nanjiani...) I loved it from episode one. And then, Mary Steenburgen showed up!... & I LOVE her playing that role - she portrays it perfectIy, because she seems so poised & sweet in real life, and this character is brazen & vengeful & has her little twang in her voice & just her name; Crystal Lynn... It's funny to have Mary Steenburgen in that type of roll. I love Kristen & Maya & Jillian so much, so I may be a tad biased... But, come on, what's not to like?? I love the teenage daughter's witt & personality - and that her bedroom is also the laundry/storage room for the whole family... She's the only person who's really grounded in the show (well, her & Jesus, maybe), intertwined with teenage angst. It works nicely. The relationship between Jenny & Wayne is kind-of progressive, which could be frowned upon in it's "southern" setting...so, it's kind-of refreshing to see. Oh, and Jesus comes out of The Last Supper (painting) to talk with Jenny all the time... That's just hilarious in itself, but there are some really good jokes & references there that are just golden! There are lots of outlying kooky characters, too. & everyone often mis-uses or mis-pronounces words all the time... (& "duht duh da duh"...) It's just funny, especially if you know someone from the south, like I do, who is a combo of several of these characters... Give it a try. It's on Hulu y'all!!
