Man escapes poverty, war, and the loss of everything he knew, then trains relentlessly to develop incredible skills and become a leader in his field. Through these hard-earned skills, he forge a kingdom so prosperous, peaceful, and successful that people the world over willingly join it. People he actively helps, with no expectation of reward. Then, with no strings attached, he grants peoples’ wishes; choosing those that will achieve the greatest good – meaning he understands the classic adage of “be careful what you wish for, because actions can have unintended consequences.”
Somehow, this paragon of altruism is the *villain.*
Even if the efforts to justify that weren’t hilariously shoe-horned, or the writing were halfway decent (expect such gems as, "I let you live here free/and I don't even charge you rent") the movie would have been better if it had been the antagonist's origin story, and he the hero.
TL:DR: Older Disney works are better written, with more effective character arcs, and better examinations of their core morals and ideas.
Do not recommend.
