An always present ambivalence creates a tension that follows you around like a specter of self-questioning: how dangerous can playing with fire be? I remember a similar story all over the news in the 90s. I was somewhat shocked by all that happened. It seems life involves fulfilling destinies and also making amends. My favorite part? Art 🤩 It’s brilliant that the long-lasting “forbidden” love story is scrutinized by an actress cast to play a part she finds disturbing yet interesting and complex, and so complex, in fact, she becomes involved with the couple and the family to a degree she feels she must indulge in her own transgressions in order to get as close as she can to her character. No one is entirely self-serving or naive in this triangle. There are no absolutes in this film. And in life? It’s one thing to look and judge from the outside, and a very different thing to live an experience yourself. Ultimately, we pay for what we bargained for.
