Started beautifully. Superb premise. Great cast. Lovely camera work. Thereafter I’ve rarely seen a show squander such potential and goodwill so willingly. Why spend 85% of each episode ignoring the main plot arc that brings the characters together? It should have been intercut much more diligently, with the missing brother plot constantly interspersed. It just doesn’t do this. Wasteful. Bit of a shit Morse pastiche for Gen-Z in the end…and yet such a great premise. Arse.

Had to go home and wash afterwards - felt so exploited. The dog was quite good.

Arse-numbing, self indulgent film-making that does little justice to an amazing story. Why does 75% of the film concentrate on the McCarthyite persecution and only 25% (if that) on one of humanity’s greatest and yet morally dubious achievements? Surely the balance should have been the other way? I suspect Barbie probably had a better screenplay.
