I’ve played the first Dragon’s Dogma and was excited to get the opportunity to play its successor. I thought the first game was mid, and so I was hoping for further improvements and quality of life updates from the critiques of the first game; I could not be more disappointed. Why? Paying full price for a game to be met with a ridiculous amount of microtransactions, performance issues, and other odd gameplay mechanics that should have been well thought out before launching the sequel. Upon launching the game, I immediately thought, “where is the ‘2’ on the loading screen? Where is ‘new game’? Why am I having such a hard time locking on to monsters? Why can't I fast travel between riftstones?” And it only continued to go downhill from there. I was hoping for an improved romance system, improved gameplay and performance, improved RPG elements, and it’s just not there. It feels like a complete bait and switch, and I’m so upset and disappointed with Capcom and the Dragon’s Dogma team.
