Five star reading for this is truly writing of substance and quality. It gripped me from word one. Kelly Thompson is a gifted and talented writer with a ton of heart and compassion. I could barely put this memoir down. Her experiences in the Canadian Armed Forces are mostly sad and frustrating as it depicts a woman doing her best but rarely noticed for her talents and skills due to her femininity and an unfortunate and ill-managed by the medics accident which hounded her for her whole career. This memoir is important at this time especially given the sexual trauma and male toxicity in the CAF.
