This show is good, but I have a few things to say. The characters are very 2D and not at all fleshed out. They have maybe one defining trait, and that is it. Like, in season one, Amity was great. Until she met Luz, and got soft, and her being in love was her whole thing and she lost all her personality. That is another thing. There is poor plot development. Luz (protagonist) is very bland. She does something bad, learns it is bad, then forgets it and carries on. Her being Hispanic adds nothing to the plot. She could be German, or Indian, or alien! I do wish they had a little more time to fully flesh out the last season because it is very rushed and it shows. The plot and episodes are very bland and unoriginal, and the character development needs some work.
The whole thing with Belos and Hunter and and grimwalkers is pretty cool though. Also, the show tries to have cool and quirky characters, but it fails. I cannot relate to a single one. If you asked me to give you one defining trait for any given character, I would struggle. And it’s not because I haven’t watched the show in detail. I have watched it all myself, and with my friend. It’s just that the show gives me little to work with. Willow is smart! So is Amity. But, Amity is also sassy, and a bully! But wait! Oh she’s learned from her ways and isn’t a bully OR sassy anymore? Well, there goes the two cool traits she had. Down the gutter. Now she’s just smart and in love. Wait. Now she’s a clumsy idiot? When? See, it’s just the characters jump from place to place. The change and progression of characters is not at all there. Not realistic.
I did enjoy watching the show, but I feel it has things to work on and isn’t as good as other shows I’ve watched. BUT, the ending was pretty fire, so I’ll give it that. 3.5/5
