I honestly believe the comedic light Society has placed on Dahmer's crimes is a reflection of the ongoing racism and disregard for black people's lives.
This man killed 17 men, mostly young, black men.
He was not criminally insane, which meant he UNDERSTOOD the nature and quality of his conduct.
He targeted these men, knowing that the racist, incompetent police would not pay attention to missing homosexual men, of colour...and this is you all's 'hero.'
There are so many movies being made glorifying his murders, playing on the victim's trauma from REAL LIFE family members' deaths, and profiting off of this- his story is diluted into a sympathetic sob story about a teen who liked killing animals! Oh, what a misunderstood angel.
I watched the recent documentary, Dahmer, and seeing the actors play the family members' victim impact statements I felt sheer and utter disgust- absolute JOKE.
If you watch the original Rita Isbel statement you could feel the hurt, the insufferable pain and anguish that later developed into anger. I sympathise with HER. No matter what anyone says, this was not translated appropriately in the film. It was not a powerful or impactful remake. It reiterated the ideology that she was just a black, angsty woman yelling.
I hate you, Jeffery.
I do not sympathize with him nor want to dissect and understand his mind. He is not a fascination. He is an unsympathetic horrendous criminal.
'My Friend Dahmer' is underwhelming and instead of recognising his victims, it shows us a white, homosexual male being bullied in high school.
What a cliche.
