Did not live up to the hype. It is essentially a fable and consequently short on plausibility.
Presumably 1950’s England was thought to be somewhat like Japan in its consecrated formality. As one familiar with office etiquette in those years Idid not think that worked. We certainly had more elbow room than the
Bureaucrats of LCC depicted.
Bill Nighy acted well within his more or less customary range. I don’t see him as being in the running for an Oscar.
