A quality remake of "9 Rota", both based on "Afgansky Izlom" (1991). This is perhaps how a mainstream film about the war in Afghanistan should look: some quality battle scenes, some controversy, some true spirit of the 80-s. Very good actors capable of portraying hard-boiled characters. Maybe not a masterpiece, but a quality work by someone who remembers the times. Cons: some plot inconsistencies and failure to outshine the original (Afgansky Izlom), or even acknowledge its influence. Mr. Lungin states that nothing has been produced before on the subject, which is a lie.
