Is this the greatest horror movie of all time? Maybe. Would I change anything about it? Definitely not! This is a movie that will leave your body with an abundance of dread and anxiety without having to rely on your classic horror movie jump scares (most modern horrors). Loaded with details missed and unanswered questions that will leave you with a horrible wave of fear crawling under your skin. It’s almost a no brainer to watch this movie again, a feat only achieved by the greatest horror movies of all time! Will I recover mentally from this movie? I really hope so. Will I recover mentally from the pain of life? Haha…no

It’s always a tough job turning a successful, established game into a horror movie! They tried it with slenderman and it didn’t work. However this movie was slightly different! There was a lot more depth to the characters which wasn’t explained in the game, which was a nice surprise. Albeit it lacked the horror aspect there were a few little twists and turns in the movie. Overall it gets a 3/5

If only 3.5 stars were possible. Considering I was named after the main antagonist (Ethan Hawke) it seems only right to give an honest review for the movie and his performance. Enjoyable. Nothing too spectacular but they can’t all be 5 stars! That would take away the novelty. A movie with dark references, a supernatural twist and splash of childhood trauma (unlocking heavily repressed memories personally) lands this movie a 3/5. Well done Ethan.

The movie threw us in the deep end and this with a mixture of poor cinematography equates to a 2/5 for me. The only saving grace was the reflection of the importance of family but this isn’t what I’m looking for in modern day horror.
