Overall the show was okay. It had all the ingredients for an epic fantasy but the execution was missing the mark for me. I was bored most of the time. The passing and structure was kind of odd. I did like some of the storyline but everything felt so rushed and considering it was only an 8 ep season I understand why. I did like that "The Chosen One" trope was set up to figure out who it was instead if being told from the start but they didn't give every possible chosen one enough time each to really care. Some got way more time on screen than others and I found myself not really caring about one having go defeat the dark power since that wasn't focused on very much. I feel like I was watching thr cliff notes version of the show. Once we find out who the chosen one is, it's done in such a clunky, lack luster sudden and shoe horned in way that it just take the small amount of build up that was there. It's honestly a background type show. Like so much nothing happens that involves the main plot that it doesn't matter if you pay that much attention. It wasn't terrible but if I found out they had high writers turnover, I wouldn't be surprised.

The show had me guessing the whole way through. it had your typical cliche plot point on paper in execution, i was so unsure how it would all play out. i found my self thinking, " there's no way they can pull this off!" about certain aspects of the tropes used but i was so surprised they they were able to. i will say this drama has the most unique use of some tropes ive seen in a drama and it was so refreshing! this is cliches made anew for sure. this is what all dramas should try. using a tried and true trope and making it refreshing and interesting is so hard to do. ill be looking up other dramas by this director and writer for sure.
