It's hard to describe an album like Geogaddi in words. What I can say is that this is extremely creative and interesting music. It strikes a perfect balance between being laid-back and chill and tense and creepy. Lumbering, lazy beats and synth drones mix with disembodied vocals and warping, warbling effects. The whole album flows seamlessly from track to track, including some pieces that aren't so much traditional songs but sound collages. It's all very mind-altering and cerebral. Tons of weird, subtle things going on underneath everything. Boards Of Canada are one of the few groups that, to my ears, create sounds that are entirely new. Geogaddi is the group's follow-up to Music Has The Right To Children, which is a brilliant album, but this one might just be even better. I'm having trouble deciding. Anyone interested in electronic music should not sleep on this record.
