Do not waste your time watching this movie. A confused excuse of a film, leaves you asking questions that never receive any answers. The only reason it is as popular right now as it is, is to compel people to waste 2 hours watching it, so Netflix can make money. Casting Sandra Bullock might be a smart move on the director's part, as a popular, talented actress might have been the only thing that saved its weak plot from being rejected by the audience. A wannabe dystopian post-apocalyptic movie. Seems like the writer was one of those few who read a lot of The Hunger Games, Divergent, etc. and thought they could better their versions of a "the world is ending" future, only to fail miserably. Although Sandra Bullock makes for a convincing survivor, her character is very two-dimensional. There's no character development at any point in the movie. To make matters worse, if the evil monsters in the movie that make the characters kill themselves if seen is an attempt at a metaphor for depression, or mental illness, it has completely failed. An inaccurate, bleak interpretation of mental illness, postpartum depression and suicidal tendencies without delving into any of the aspects that accompany that emotion. Will not reduce stigma about mental illness by making bad movies, we will reduce the stigma by talking about it and not making it taboo. In short, if you're looking for an honestly gripping movie, with a simple to-the-point sensible plot that terrifies, excites and delivers, watch A Quiet Place. Netflix has oversold Birdbox, which is the only reason it's become a "hit". Truly a blindfolded movie, be it in terms of plot, characters, or delivery.
