I’m only a decade younger than Ivy Bottini. At the end of reading “The Liberation of ivy bottini”, my impression is that gay women and straight women who came of age in Mid-Century USA have far more in common than not. The battle for women’s rights has shaped those of us who pursued professional careers and those who didn’t. I’m enlightened as a result of Judith Branzburg’s ability to organize the details of Ivy’s simultaneous struggles with women’s issues, with lesbian and gay issues, and with relationship issues. I admire Ivy’s determination and creativity and strength in managing her life and making a difference for all of us. I recommend this interesting read to a wide audience, regardless of gender, age, or sexual orientation, particularly to anyone who likes inspirational narratives about success in reaching goals.
