I wish I could give this zero stars. This movie fundamentally misses the point of the story let alone it being so poorly done. The dialogue is painfully unnatural, stilted, and awkward, sometimes too much exposition and sometimes too little. I won't even comment on the terrible acting by half of the cast but if they were given better material maybe they could have carried it well. The movie plays out like it didn't trust itself or the audience, instead of just making a good film they rushed everything and spoiled all 3 books. And the casting...the casting that tried too hard to be diverse ended up being offensive in who they casted as who. It's a shame this movie sucks because the source material, the books, are really relevant today and was ahead of its time when it was released. I hope they don't make a sequel; I don't know how they could given that they spoiled the next two books, but I know they will. Horrible film, the books are absolutely better.
