1. Have you read the book?
Yes, I finished “A Shadow in the Ember.” A Shadow in the Ember is the second series I’ve read, written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, and I loved the book so much that I could not stop myself from binge reading the book. The second I finished reading the book, I made sure that I bought the second book in the series as fast as I could; I absolutely can not wait to finish the series and begin reading other books by Jennifer L. Armentrout.
2. Did you enjoy it?
I enjoyed “A Shadow in the Ember” so much that I would rate the book a 10/10. The book is a clash of romance and fantasy (Romantasy), containing spice that I would rank a 3/5 on the spice scale. My opinion is that the second you begin reading the book, you will not be able to put it down due to the curiosity that will stem from the first chapter when the readers are introduced to Sera, the fierce main character who is willing to give everything for her kingdom and the mysteries of Primal of Death whom Sera must make fall in love with her. As I mentioned, I enjoyed the book so much that I quickly got my hands on the second book in the series as soon as I finished it. I am currently already 75% done with the second book, which is just as good as the first.
3. Would you purchase more titles from the author?
The first series I read, written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, was Obsidian; for those unfamiliar with the Lux series, it is an absolute must-read. I first read the Lux series in high school, and I remember devouring the book; honestly, I became so engrossed with the first book that I began reading the book in the afternoon and didn’t notice that a whole day had passed. It was not until I closed the book after finishing it that I realized it was already the next day, and it was 6 in the morning. A Shadow in the Ember brought back that nostalgic feeling of first discovering a book written by Jennifer L. Armentrout, but this time, I rediscovered her work as a college student, and those same feelings of being sucked into a book that I felt when I read Obsidian were the same when I was reading A Shadow in the Ember. Jennifer L. Armentrout does not miss as a writer; she not only makes the reader fall in love with her confident and fierce main characters but leaves us wanting more, each page leaving a reader on the edge of their seats. I have not read “From Blood and Ash,” but A Shadow in the Ember has convinced me to read it as soon as possible, and it does not require that one read From Blood and Ash to understand and enjoy A Shadow in the Ember.
4. Would you recommend A Shadow in the Ember to your friend?
I will most definitely recommend A Shadow in the Ember to my friends who enjoy fantasy, romance, and spice!
6. Do you believe this book was a good match (as in tropes and triggers)?
The book was a good match regarding the tropes and triggers.
7. Is there anything you liked or disliked about the book match? (Tropes, triggers, plot, etc.)
