Enjoyable enough to keep me watching til the end. The quality of the source material saves this show from its shortcomings. Truly bad cinematography extinguished the tension of tense scenes, failed to inspire in scenes that ought to have invoked awe or reverence, blurred and disoriented during scenes that ought to have showcased an epic fight. Clumsy dialogue, wooden acting, (rushing through already awkwardly written lines, slurring like it's a middle school production) from key characters really held back the show. Did the directors not notice or care? The bending choreography/bending animation was just ok. Lots of flailing irrespective of the intended effect. If this gets greenlit for a season 2, I really hope to see some improvement.
Between the aforementioned issues, it was almost impossible for me to get lost in the moment. I really wanted to. That said, it was far more enjoyable to watch than Shyamalan's production.
I didn't mind the costumes too much. It was nice to see places like Omashu more fleshed out. This felt like it was run by people who cared a lot about the source material but were generally new to live action. That's how it felt anyway.
