After reading this collaboration between father and son, I better understanf why Karl, the son, is the outstanding person he is. His dad, flaws and all, is an excellent example of perseverance. Being a Southerner I can relate to the events and experiences Milton Merritt endured. His story is presented in a factual- and cetainly not bitter way- by his son who admired and respected his father. I recommend this small but very enlightening book to anyone who wants to understand the environment for blacks in the South AND what positive commitment to faith and family can accomplish.
