I loved this movie. I give it an A. It definitely was a A+ Oscar worthy performance by Marisa Abela! She truly embodied Amy. I was completely impressed with her likeness to Amy, all the way down to the voice, in which Marisa even did her own singing. I even thought the movie did a good job of humanizing and softening the bad boy Blake stigma somewhat. It was not all him. He was not All bad. I thought the movie was well made and my only complaint, was that I wish it could have been longer. I was not ready for it to end. I wanted more. Just like Amy's short life, you were not ready for it to end. You were sad when it was over. The movie reminds you of how tragic it was back in 2011 when we lost Amy, such a beautiful, talented, shining star. Life would never be the same. It opened up that wound again of how much more Amy could have, should have been able to give to the world with her genius, immeasurable talent. She was just getting started. I also loved the Donny Hathaway shout out in the movie. Another musical genius who Amy was greatly inspired by. This is a must see movie. If you are a Amy Winehouse fan, please treat yourself. Its so sad that people may be missing out on this gem of a movie due to the critic reviews not being so good. Not sure why the reviews aren't better. I absolutely enjoyed every second of this movie. I've been to see it 3 times.
