This is just not funny. The retro soundtrack, frequent smash cuts and quirky acting are cool at first - but within 5 mins it feels stale and overused. The show is striving to be the next End Of The F###ing World, but where that show was surprising and sincere - this one just seems to be trying too hard. The dialogue is just not funny, the 'fish out of water' moments are not believable and the supporting cast are unengaging. I'm a big fan of Maisie Williams and she was excellent in this too, but the script just bogged her down. Feel like this was an opportunity missed, as the concept was quite novel.

Slow, repetitive and painfully boring. Everyone's acting so overtly earnest - particularly the office colleagues - it makes the whole thing feel fake. I get that RG is going for emotional depth here but it's supposed to be a comedy drama, instead it just goes from misery to misery. Most of the actors don't pull off either the funny or sad parts. Tbh I was disappointed to see a roster of TV lightweights - none of whom impressed. Gervais, as usual, is excellent though. S1 was watchable, but by s3 we are seeing the same drama play out again and again. Nothing new to say by that stage.
