As a Kiwi, this rags-to-riches story was always going to be interesting (and tragic). but Simon Grigg has managed to dig far deeper than I expected, deep into the wonderful cosmopolitan nature of New Zealand and the personalities of that time. It's a balanced tale with no holding back or airbrushing. This is as close as you will get to a ringside seat to at the birth of a global smash hit and the rocky road that went with the celebrations. Highly recommended for anyone who digs music biographies.
