I watched the pilot with mixed feelings by the end of it.
It would have been nice to have a "replacement" program for New Amsterdam in a way.
It's apparent the writers of the show only partially know what medical and healing practice outside the western paradigm is composed of and what can be accomplished with outside the narrow mainstream with diagnoses and interventions.
I just finished watching the 2nd and 3rd episodes and my assessment hasn't altered.
It's nice content for people watching who have never had exposure to treatment other than pharmaceuitical and surgical interventions.
It's also offensive many times during each episode.
One of the most offensive points throughout is that generically, it makes entry into facilities, treatment/intervention and follow up appear accessible, available to any and all without any attention to the reality of what costs and fees are applied to patients/clients.
And equally, that physician staff, mostly, have their highest focus on giving patient care at the highest global level with their time availability and accessibility large and personal connection to the client being greatly offered.
Unlike New Amersterdam, it does not make the point of the financial challenges that were and are needed in that facility and in actual reality to be consistently, even constantly addressed and attended to to administer care, especially high level care and care outside the box to most cases. Or that in true reality 80-90% or so of the population has to have ability to have overcharged fees and services for anything medically related anywhere met financially in order to receive any kind of care.
So it's a fantasy type program regarding approach to care that does not exist any longer in western medicine related to patient care. The reality of showing what can be done outside western normal approaches now are also presented incredibly superficially to those who choose to watch this program. It sadly is strictly for lackluster entertainment purposes.
It certainly isn't about presenting any educational intelligent content by any stretch of the imagination.
That's sad that there actually is a lot to offer people outside the rote narrow spectrum of western medical practice (now almost global) which is available mostly to just the wealthy.
I rarely watch series programs of any kind, thought this one might be worth following. But it's not.
I generously gave it a two star because the actors and acting are ok enough.
