Bono and the Edge - still masters of their craft. Just remember that when U2 gets it right, there’s no one in their stratosphere. These songs get in your head and grow on you. If you love the original songs, yet still have an open mind, then you will enjoy this album for what it is - a new, alternate take on a set of indestructible songs, and not meant to improve on or overpower the originals (impossible). The intent here was to accompany the book with a quiet grace and find unexplored new colors in songs you thought you completely knew. I humbly suggest you read Songs of Surrender, or better yet, listen to the audio book and then watch the Letterman special. It will all make sense.
