Maybe the book is self indulgent bc its obviously very biographical (probably made by the writer in an attempt to process and understand herself :") ). So in ways it feels like an impressive journal of a college student in the 90s. Life doesn't really move in the form of plots, so naturally something of an autobiographical nature wouldn't either. I loved her unique observations and shower thought style. Elif is clearly brilliant. The part of me that craves creativity was saiated, but my conditioned reader who wanted a climax and resolution was a bit disappointed. (Spoiler!) My inner love of drama would of given it 5 stars if there had been a sex scene at the end. Anyways, I've loved an Ivan before so maybe it was self indulgent for me too.
