I saw the trailer for this movie and instantly knew this was not going to be an adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel, one of my favorites. I decided to give it a try, I watched other adaptations that were not completely faithful to the novel and was able to enjoy it. Well, not this one. The first minute of this movie set the tone for the rest of it. This is a mockery of Persuasion and I am completely disappointed. Anne's character was destroyed, replaced with a sarcastic, judgemental, and at times downright silly girl. I hated it and I don't ever want to watch this movie again. Jane Austen would convulse in her grave if she knew how her beloved characters were portrayed. There are ways to make the language more relatable but this version misses it completely. They should have just set it in modern times and it might have had something to salvage. I give it one star because the settings were beautiful but that's all it has to recommend it.
