Not just your basic action film! It's reasonably basic, with a plot that is not too surprising, but the film is elevated by a surprising emotional depth to the characters and their motivations. It's slow at the start to really set the stakes, which pays off at the end. There's a strong lead turn from Chris Pine, and Eddie Marsan is great in a short role. Recommended if you're looking for more than a shoot them up action film.
