The Nero Wolfe mysteries by Rex Stout were among my favorite pleasure reading for decades.
The 20 TV episodes were brilliant premiering in 2001. Timothy Hutton was so good that he became Archie Goodwin as I re-read the novels. This even became true for all the cast. They became the voices, and faces I hear and see when I still read the original texts almost 20 years later.
This has gotten to the point that even today I looked through every TV episode for "And Be A Villain." I was certain I had seen it. I could 'see' the scenes, and 'hear' the dialog.
Alas, the Arts and Entertainment, A&E, network chose to neither be focused on the Arts, nor be Entertaining. They canceled this fantastic effort.
