As one that had been in tech all my life, I can assert that combination the human tendency to want power ( per Bruce Springsteen’s words: “poor man want to rich, rich man wants to be king), combined with absolute control of that power (the purveyors of AI) will lead to horrible consequences as the film demonstrates. People’s life’s are being completely destroyed by rogué algorithms. Trauma is being generated by them. Like that black 14 year old that was cited in the film. He was profiled in London by a facial recognition AI that mistook him for a criminal. He is damaged for life.
It’s true and it’s happening every day. Now. Not tomorrow. Now.
At the end of the day, AI is nothing but an extension of our imperfect humanness. And for that reason alone, AI is imperfect and will always be.
