Really fun and compelling series. Just binged the whole thing in one sitting. I get the dark thing that lots of people complained about, but it does fit the setting. What I found most interesting about the movie is who exactly is the bad guy. If you think about it, this is not your typical alt-right conspiracy. Sure, there is a conspiracy of sorts, but there is no real villain per se, no Doctor Evil twiddling his thumbs as he sets out to destroy the world. Instead, the motivations are all very human: profit, misguided dogooders, avoiding scandal, etc. The real problem is this all takes place in a bureaucracy that concentrates power into the hands of a few of these very human humans, and there is little oversight, and no one ultimately wants to take responsibility for screwing up. Very much what I've seen my time in the military and government.
