I love racing games. Been playing them since Papyrus' Indy Car Racing or Need For Speed.
There's one thing I don't like in racing games: lazy programming. What's that? Say you want to make the AI cars faster then you make them either a) make them super heavy, like 100 times heavier than your vehicle. b) Make them go so fast that you could never catch them by giving them super acceleration or something like that.
And this happens in this game. For starters you are a plastic truck against very heavy tank like trucks. Whenever you manage to get your truck half ahead of them in a turn they just keep going their intended path, no matter what's in front of them, in our case, our truck so this causes our truck to get sideways while they keep pushing like just a toy in their way.
Say you manage to brake better than them, the moment you start accelerating you can see them speed up insanely fast to the point of getting them ahead of you by 10 seconds, in just 100 mts making it useless for you to try and out brake them.
There's 4 "slow" trucks and 4 super fast trucks. First race you probably manage to finish 6th or depending the track even 4th but you'll have 2 trucks breathing down your neck constantly pushing you at corners. Second race is reversed start (if you finished 8th you start 1st) but no matter where you start, AI will ALWAYS start like 5 times faster, the have super acceleration, ALWAYS.
Apart from that annoyance the game does look and feel really good, I like it. This review is from the career part of the game, with "normal" AI trucks, no assistance. Also I still have no truck meaning I'm a rent-a-driver for now so there's no upgrade for trucks, which apparently you can do when you own your own truck, maybe then AI will feel different? But the part where they are heavier and push you out of the way don't have a fix, is just how they are just in like some racing games.
A few things can be improved like ability to add the mirrors in outside view or the ability to shut up the "pit radio" constantly nagging you with really useless messages or the constant "your brakes are heating up remember to spray water on them"... Yes I know, I'm just managing them, let me do it.
Overall a good game, hope that with a patch they could add a few of the options most racing have like said mirrors and pit talk.
